MACEPA Technical Brief: Unveiling new insights for enhancing malaria data visualization and use in the DRC

Bluesquare has been supporting its long-time partners, PATH’s Malaria Control and Elimination Partnership in Africa (MACEPA) and the Ministry of Health in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in the development of an advanced national malaria intelligence platform.

Built with OpenHEXA, our open-source data integration tool, the platform significantly improves how malaria data is visualized, analyzed, and utilized—driving more informed and effective decision-making in malaria control and elimination efforts. The implementation of a comprehensive malaria intelligence platform has strengthened evidence-based decision-making across various meetings and thematic areas. This decision-support tool has played a pivotal role in advancing key activities for the PNLP and its partners.

As a follow-up to the platform launch, PATH MACEPA and Bluesquare have released a comprehensive Technical Brief detailing the process, challenges encountered, lessons learned, and key recommendations from this collaborative effort. This document will serve as a valuable resource in the ongoing fight against malaria, and underscores the importance of strong partnerships, innovative solutions, and knowledge sharing.

Bluesquare’s continued effort to work alongside key MoH departments—including the General Secretariat for Health, the Epidemiological Surveillance Directorate, the Health Management Information System Division, the National Malaria Control Program, the Supply Chain Program, and General Directorate of Disease Control—and partners like WHO, PMI Measure Malaria, SANRU, and CHAI,  reflects our ongoing commitment to the advancement of  malaria surveillance in the DRC.
